Easy Ways to Make your Money Stretch Further

The new year is almost here, and that means that it’s the perfect time to start making some changes to the way that you manage your money. Of course, you don’t necessarily have to wait for January to arrive before you make a difference to the way that you spend. Sometimes, you can save a fortune just by making little changes to your routine and allowing your budget to stretch a little further.
Today, we’re going to share some of our favorite tips for getting the most out of your monthly pay, so you can have more cash left behind for your savings.

Make your Own Coffee
A lot of people get into the expensive habit at stopping at a coffee shop on the way to work every day. When you’re busy, it just seems easier to go through a drive-through or pick something up from a café close to work when you need an extra java kick. However, the truth is that you’ll save a fortune, and reduce the impact on your health if you make your own coffee instead.

Learn how to brew your favorite recipes and look into buying your very own coffee maker so you know you’re going to get the best flavor. Even if you have to get out a bad credit loan so you can buy a fancy coffee machine, you’ll save more in the long-term.

Use your Garden
If you have your own home with a little outside space, then you might be able to cut the amount you spend on things like fruits, vegetables and even herbs, by learning how grow them yourselves. There are a lot of foods that you can grow with very little skill or space, such as tomatoes and strawberries. Even growing fresh herbs on your windowsill can make a huge difference if you don’t have much of a yard.

You could even consider planting some trees soon after you move into your home. Those trees can provide you with fruit, and they’ll give you some extra shade, which boosts your energy efficiency ratings.

Try the Store’s Own Brand
Are you still one of those people who think that they have a favorite brand for everything? More often than not, the pasta that you love more than any other kind of pasta will taste exactly the same as the budget store brand version when it’s cooked. What you’re really paying for is the marketing and packaging that the company you love has been using to convince you to buy their items.

The store brand of a brand is almost always cheaper than big name brands, and you’ll often find that switching doesn’t change much for you or your lifestyle. Try changing just one product a week to get started.

Make your Own Cleaning Spray
We all want to live in a beautiful, clean and hygienic home – but spending a fortune on cleaning products can really wipe out your budget each month. Fortunately, you can make your own cleaning products instead, and save a fortune in the process. All you need is an old empty jar and equal parts vinegar and water. Add in some citrus peels from a lemon, lime, or orange to give your spray a slightly nicer smell and leave it sitting for a week. You might need to strain the resulting product before you put it into a spray bottle, but you’ll end up with a pretty effective cleaner that’s only costing you a few cents.

You’d be surprised how much a home-made cleaner like this will work for, and you won’t have to worry about the impact of chemicals on your furniture either.

Delete Payment Info from eCommerce Sites
Finally, if you’re the kind of person who’s always haphazardly buying things from eCommerce stores – particularly after a couple of drinks, now is the time to delete your data. It’s way too easy to buy things online today. Some companies, like Amazon, allow you to buy piles of products with just a couple of clicks.

Deleting your payment info will simply mean that you have to go and track down your card and enter all the information again the next time you want to buy something online. Adding this extra step to your digital purchases could be enough to prevent some of your impulse buys. It won’t stop you from purchasing the things that you need, but it will give you enough ti8me to think twice about the items you don’t really want.
